What kind of billet heating furnace should choose for different application?

Nowadays, billet heating furnace has many applications in the industry, such as forging, rolling and heat treatment. Billet heating furnace also consists of many types including billet induction heating furnace, gas furnace, resistance furnace, mesh belt furnace, vacuum furnace, melting furnace and so on. Different billet heating furnace has different applications, so here we will give brief introduction for the billet induction heating furnace. 

Billet induction heating furnace is making full use of magnetic induction heating principle- the heat will generate in the billet, which is good for the working environment. 

The application of billet induction heating furnace is as follows:

1.Cold billet heating: This process is widely used in the forging or rolling, such as automobile front axle, hammer, shovel, blade and so on. In the process, billet induction heating furnace can heat the billet from room temperature to 1100-1200℃, then it will be sent to the forging machinery for different shapes. Rolling process has much higher efficiency than forging process, such as steel ball hot rolling, rebar hot rolling, plate hot rolling and so on. But if your workpiece is too small like screw and nut, mesh belt will be better.

2. Steel billet continuous casting and rolling heating: This process is widely used in large steel mills. The mill will used melting furnace to melt the steel scrap and the iron liquid will be charged into continuous casting machines. The continuous casting billet will be directly sent to the rolling mill for rolling rebars or other workpiece. But during the transmission, the billet surface temperature will reduce some. So it need furnace to reheating the billet to rolling temperature. Actually, the core of the billet hasn’t reduce. The furnace only need to heat 1/3 of the billet, then it will need less power. More and more users prefer to choose this process to save their cost. 

3.Working with gas furnace. Some steel mills don’t have melting furnace, so they will buy continuous casting billet and use gas furnace to reheat the billet. It will be better to use gas furnace to heat large lot of billet as it’s really energy saving. But sometimes the gas furnace will has problems. Then billet induction heating furnace will be more flexible because it can be start at any time and can reverse the billet back to the furnace for holding the temperature.
