Sucker rod is an important component of rod pumping equipment. The sucker rod is connected to the rod string through the coupling. In order to improve the fatigue strength of the sucker rod, the surface hardening treatment method has been widely used in recent years by sucker rod hardening furnace. The surface induction heating quenching method has been used earlier and the effect is obvious. The surface induction heating quenching can not only change the structure and performance of the sucker rod but also produce large residual pressure stress on the rod, and then improve the strength, fatigue strength and corrosion fatigue strength of the sucker rod.

The key technical point of sucker rod hardening furnace is that the rod body and rod end need to get the same hardness. But the rod end diameter is bigger than the body diameter. Surface induction quenching process can not only improve the fatigue strength of sucker rod, but also improve its corrosion fatigue strength. To solve the key technology, the technical difficulties of 4 induction heating equipment must be solved: the selection of the frequency of the power supply, the determination of the structure and size of the induction coil, the continuity of the quenching laye and the adjustment of the depth of the quenching layer.
